Lovecraft: The Dunwich Horror 02 (Gou Tanabe)

 

 

In northern central Massachusetts, where the ominous screech of the whippoorwill echoes among the ancient stone circles that crown the hills, lie the cursed lands of Dunwich. During Candlemas in 1913, late in the morning, Lavinia Whateley gives birth to a boy, father unknown, on the outskirts of the village. The birth of the child is accompanied by other strange signs, as Old Man Whateley soon begins to behave uncharacteristically.

 

This eccentric behavior causes a marked animosity toward the family to spread throughout the town as time passes. At the Harvest Festival of 1924, Old Man Whateley dies, leaving his grandson an enigmatic message, after which Lavinia herself disappears without a trace. Alone and with no one to help him, Wilbur reaches adulthood dedicated to carrying out the mission entrusted to him: to open the cursed portal, call upon the void, and pave the way for the Elders to return to this world...
